Seriously, no options, not even A/C, and it still costs more than my fully loaded Alltrack. I know it’s an apples to rocks comparison, but damn, I’m glad I wasn’t in the market for one of these.

That’s kind of a burn but also something I’ve noticed. I couldn’t configure one I’d buy for less than 30k USD (aircon is a must) but at least colors are usually free.
EDIT: Hold up I used to be able to get aircon on the base Sport model.

I'm so poor

Not necessarily poor, but frugal I think?
Also, I don’t think not being able to afford a base Jeep is a sign of your money problem, I think it’s the other way around.

Frugal? I mean... The man has bought four new vehicles since 2014. I’ll even drop it to three and call the Cx-3 to Alltrack extenuating circumstances.

Yeah I don’t get, I can see the loaded up four doors being more money, but wasn’t the point of a Jeep supposed to be an affordable off road vehicle? I just don’t believe they are expensive to build.

He bought a Forte with no a/c, that has to count for something.

He could have bought 60% of a 15-year old Joop!

yea, thats sad. and iw ant to buy a fully loaded one with diesel or a RAM diesel...
THATS GOING TO BE FUN.

Now you know why Jeep is the only profitable part of FCA.

At this point the Wrangler is just about as expensive as a similarly equipped Grand Cherokee. I know what I’d rather have.

The price of used Wranglers is what boggles my mind .

Reminds me of Mini.

The new ones? Those are BMWs so it makes sense, but I’m sure they aren’t worth that.

And the old ones used to be really Mini and cheap.
A bit like the FLAT 500, the name is now used for CUVs.

I think that’s negative points on the splurge-o-meter.

Yeah a CJ2A is like a Mini for a different purpose.

We’re at the point where the cool factor has outgrown the cheap off-roader part of its appeal. FCA wants a piece of that pie, and has thus been slightly raising the Wrangler’s sticker every year since about 2015. Back then, they charged $38k for a loaded Sahara Unlimited; now we’re here.

I like old off roaders, but I would buy a Bronco if I didn’t have to commute in my modern vehicle. I get that they like money, I suppose people should buy a side by side if they just want to mess around off road, they are about as big as a CJ2A.

I really should do a long-form about this, but I've noticed that automakers like to jack up cad prices on fun cars

J eep prices are out of control. In 2013 I bought a new Unlimited Rubicon, it was $38k OTD with a few options. I configured one identically last year and it was over $50k! Good for them getting that much for a Jeep, but they won’t ever get it from me again.

RAM is too. Weirdly.

For the fun of it i built a poverty spec 2 door jeep and it was 34k USD. Thats a joke.. There should be a sub 30k jeep.
